Moraira is known for its beautiful coastline, but most visitors never venture beyond the main beaches. That's a shame, because it's the hidden coves that make this coastal town so special. After years of living here, I know all the secret spots - and in this video, I'm sharing them with you.
My absolute favorite is Cala Llebeig. To get there, you'll need to hike about 45 minutes along the cliffs. Bring plenty of water and wear sturdy shoes - the path is rocky. But the moment you arrive at the bottom, you'll understand why it's worth the effort. The water is so clear you can see the seabed five meters down. The dramatic rock walls create a natural amphitheater, and the silence is overwhelming. No parasols or beach bars here - just you and the Mediterranean Sea.
For families with children, El Portet is the perfect choice. This sheltered bay has calm, shallow water where kids can play safely. Local fishermen bring in their catch here every morning, and the small beachfront restaurants serve the fish the very same day. My tip: order the 'pescado del día' and ask them to prepare it 'a la plancha' - simply grilled with a bit of olive oil and garlic.
What many people don't realize is that the most beautiful spots are best enjoyed early in the morning. Arrive before 9 am and you'll often have the beach entirely to yourself. Bring a breakfast, find a spot among the rocks, and watch the sunrise over the sea. These are the moments that make people fall in love with the Costa Blanca.
Don't forget your snorkeling gear - the underwater life around the rocks is surprisingly rich. Starfish, small octopuses, and schools of colorful fish are common sights. And for the adventurous among us: at Cala Llebeig you can jump into the water from the rocks. Just watch out for the depth and currents.
